A bedspread, coverlet, or duvet cover are perfect for a quick and easy room revamp — you can change looks as often as the mood strikes you.
The primary difference between a bedspread and a coverlet is coverage.
Bedspreads
A bedspread is designed to cover the entire bed, up over the pillows, and down to the floor. Some bedspreads have a special pocket to hold a bedspread filler or top-of-bed insert for a plush look and additional warmth.

Coverlets
A coverlet is smaller, designed to cover the top of the bed and to hang just past the boxsprings. A coverlet is often accompanied by matching decorative pillow shams and a bedskirt.

Simply speaking, a duvet cover is to a comforter (or duvet), what a pillowcase is to a pillow. It is also known as a comforter cover.
The word “duvet” (pronounced “due–vay”) is Old French for down.
A duvet cover is an easy way to protect your bedding. Comforters are not easily cleaned, nor should they be laundered regularly (see our video for instructions on how to clean a comforter). However, a duvet cover can easily and regularly be removed and washed along with your sheets and pillowcases.
Many of our duvet covers feature exclusive designs created from unique prints, whether derived from antique textile documents or artwork commissioned exclusively for Cuddledown. They are also available in a variety of fabrics to suit any season.
Virtually all of our duvet covers are made with ties on the inside corners so you can easily secure your comforter to keep it from sliding around while you sleep. Our duvet covers also have button closures for a seamless appearance at the end of your bed. Watch and learn how to put a duvet cover on your comforter.
