Hi. I'm Norma Wilkins-Gross, VP of Merchandise here at Cuddledown. Most people are concerned about how the products we use on a daily basis can affect our own health, as well as the environment. Here at Cuddledown, we are continuously looking at ways to produce better, safer and more eco-friendly products. One way we're doing this, is by partnering with Oeko Tex, an organization that tests and screens harmful substances in consumer textiles. Here with me today is Dina Dunn,from Oeko Tex, to explain how their certification process can protect our customers as well as the environment.

Recognizing their responsibility and impact from their production, the textile industry is working to produce products free from harmful substances. They are adopting recognized environmentally friendly working practices to produce safer products. Developed by a group of textile institutes, Oeko-Tex is a global testing and accreditation program which screens harmful substances in consumer textiles. Manufacturers whose products meet the requirements set by the standard, are licensed to use the registered Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label on their products.

Since its inception in 1992, Oeko-Tex has come to be recognized as the leader in eco-labeling, with over 100,000 certificates issued to more than 10,000 manufacturers and millions of licensed products. Products with the Oeko-Tex label are tested and guaranteed to be free of all harmful substances, including toxins and irritants…. And by keeping harmful chemicals out of the fabric, we're also keeping them out of the environment when their useful lives are over.
