All of Cuddledown’s luxury pillow fabrics are double stitched, downproof and Oeko-Tex Certified to be free of all harmful chemicals. Each pillow is made in USA by Cuddledown using fine imported materials.

Due to the oversized nature of our plush pillows, blankets, and comforters we cannot gift wrap all items. Our special velvet gift bags are ideal for this task.

All of our hand selected down and feather blends are imported from various regions of Europe and Asia. Down and feathers are byproducts of ducks and geese raised for food, and waterfowl are part of the common diet in Europe and Asia. Our down and feather blends are washed many times with a mild soap and sterilized at high temperature to ensure that they far exceed federal standards for cleanliness. Our washing and de-dusting process results in down and feathers that are hypoallergenic, which means that they are less apt to cause an allergic reaction. And we frequently send samples of our fills to be tested by an independent laboratory to guarantee that they are precisely the quality we say they are, if not better. The down and feather blends arrive at our factory in bulk and we store them in silos until we are ready to use them in our premium comforters, pillows, and featherbeds.It is not easy to make fabric that is woven tight enough to keep the down and feather blends from leaking, yet be breathable, light, and soft. European fabric mills invented downproof fabric but over the years most of that production has moved to Asia - unfortunately the U.S. has no history of making fine downproof fabric. Aside from our ultra lightweight German Batiste fabric, all of our downproof fabric is made to our specifications in China. To make absolutely sure that our products are safe for you and your family, all of our downproof fabric is certified by Oeko-Tex to be free of all harmful chemicals. The pore size of the fabric is also tested to make sure the weave is tight enough to keep down and feather blends from leaking, but loose enough to breath. Each fabric pillow shell is pre-sewn and double stitched, so it is ready to be filled by our skilled workers. Each pillow is filled, stitched, and inspected by our Portland, Maine manufacturing team. We work directly with the fabric and down, and then the finished product, so you can be confident that we have given your pillow a thorough inspection - inside and out! Only after we are completely satisfied that each finished piece is up to our high standards do we package your pillow and send it to our warehouse for shipment to you.

Care Instructions:

Fluff on a daily basis. Air outside to keep smelling fresh. Spot clean small stains with a mild detergent and thoroughly dry area with a hand held air dryer. Machine wash warm with a mild detergent. Thoroughly dry on low to prevent mildew. To keep down from clumping during the drying process, we recommend using our down fluffers in the dryer.

Our Manufacturing Story

We got our start in 1973, during the first oil crisis, making down comforters in Yarmouth, Maine and selling them to our friends. Back in those days down comforters were a European tradition that hadn't yet made it to the U.S. But oil prices were high and down comforters were a great way for New Englanders to turn down the thermostat at night and still stay warm. We had such success selling locally that we took out advertisements in magazines such as Yankee, Down East, and The New Yorker. People from all over the country started ordering from us and, just like that, the Cuddledown catalog was born. Over the years, we have branched out with the cuddledown.com website, our wholesale business, and our hospitality program. So now you can find Cuddledown products at other fine retailers and sleep on Cuddledown bedding while staying at fine hotels and resorts.

You may be able to find us in more places these days, but our commitment to quality manufacturing is the same now as it was in 1973. We make a broad selection of down and synthetic comforters, in a variety of warmth levels and sizes, as well as over thirty styles of pillows and a variety of featherbeds. We continuously search the world for the finest materials to use in our down bedding. And each piece is made by hand in the same factory, located with our corporate offices in Portland, Maine. We work hard to maintain relationships with the finest textile mills and down suppliers from around the world. We visit our suppliers' establishments throughout the year to ensure that quality is up to Cuddledown's high standards. We also use independent laboratories to test our down, making sure that the fill power is at least the quality that we say it is, if not higher.

Since we fill each pillow, comforter, or featherbed by hand, our expert stitchers inspect every inch of our fabrics for defects. All of our synthetic and down bedding is made with downpoof fabric, guaranteed not to leak any down, feathers, or our plush synthetic fill. Technique

All of our manufactured synthetic and down bedding is handcrafted for quality and comfort that lasts. Each comforter has box-stitch construction so that the filling is always evenly distributed and there are never any cold spots. Featherbeds are made with baffle box construction so the plush synthetic or supporting feathery down fill is allowed to fluff up to create a cozy nest for you. All synthetic and down bedding is double-stitched to prevent any fill from leaking and every aspect of our bedding is backed by our Cuddledown Guarantee.
