If you grew up in the 1950’s you may remember the popular chenille or matelassé (textured) bedspreads, complete with pompom fringe. Well, they’re back. Perhaps not in exactly the same style, but bedspreads and coverlets are definitely back in vogue, in a wide variety of designs, from modern to traditional.

Size Matters

The primary difference between a bedspread and a coverlet is coverage. A bedspread is usually designed to cover the entire bed, up over the pillows, and down to the floor. Whereas a coverlet is smaller, designed to just cover the top of the bed and barely past the boxsprings, and is accompanied by matching decorative pillow shams and often a bedskirt.

Decorative and Functional

A design statement, bedspreads and coverlets are often used in conjunction with other bedding, such as a comforter encased in a duvet cover, for enhancing the look of your bed. Or, they can be used alone as lighter weight coverings, perfect for warmer weather. Some people switch out their duvet–covered comforter with a lighter coverlet or bedspread of the same fabric for summertime. With accompanying pillow shams and a bedskirt, coverlets, in particular, make bed–making a breeze — simply pull them up and voila!

Something for every taste

Coverlets and bedspreads can come in in a variety of styles, from the clean modern look of a woven diamond pique coverlet to the beach cottage feel of seersucker bedspread, to an elegant quilted sateen or percale. Or, for a more traditional look, reminiscent of those mid–century classics, you can decorate your bed with a luxurious jacquard–woven matelassé bedspread, a single ply fabric woven with elaborate texture and pattern. Some bedspreads or coverlets can also be made to be reversible, so you can change your look as often as the mood suits you.

Whatever your decorating style, you can enhance your bedroom and enjoy lightweight comfort with a bedspread or coverlet.

You can make your bedroom look formal or casual with these bedspreads. Use it during summer without filler insert or winter with down insert. Can use in a childs room or adults. Love them...I love the fact that they are manufactured in the USA, which played a big part in my decision to buy from Cuddledown.
